About Mike

Mike has been leading groups since he coached his sister’s basketball team in 8th grade - then he continued coaching water polo teams in his teens and 20s, being named Washington State Coach of the Year twice (once for a boys team and once for a girls team).

Since graduating from the UW in 2003, Mike has supported himself financially by starting and running two small businesses - first a window washing company, and now currently a rental company in the event industry. Walking the path of entrepreneurship translates into helpful advice (from experience!) for folks who may have a dream of starting something but don’t necessarily know how to begin. From entrepreneurship he has learned how to take steps in a particular direction and make adjustments as you go.

Mike traveled the world as a backpacker every year for several months at a time during the window washing and event industry slow seasons. From his travels he learned that there is no one right way to live, that everyone is doing something that makes sense to them according to their own personal cosmology. He has also seen for a fact his own privilege to live in a clean and safe land as a white man with a stable financial foundation.

Beginning in 2011 Mike has been studying with two spiritual leaders, both from Native North American lineages. He feels absolutely blessed to receive the generosity of these rich cultures. During this time he has worked with dreams and vision fasted many times. He is humbled to be a helper for several different ceremonies. It’s hard to put into words what one learns from all of these experiences, but in practice it amounts to trusting that he has the capacity within himself to navigate whatever life puts in front of him.

In the group container, Mike puts an emphasis on listening, self-reflection, helping each other move through stuck places, all while not “fixing.”

Mike respects women and holds them in high esteem.

He lives in Redmond, WA with his wife in a house that they built themselves by hand, from the ground up. They homeschooled their daughter throughout elementary school, and now look forward to the free time as she starts her journey at a more traditional school.
